So what exactly is "Geocaching?" Draw me a picture.

I am assuming one hides a trinket in some type of container, hides the container, posts the lat/long cooridinates on some website, and viola! Geocaching?

What about the "log?" Does the original person who hid the cache pick it up one day, or what?

Sounds like an interesting way of killing time.

I think I just might add this to my list of things to do. Thanks.

That is basically what geocaching is all about. You don't ever have to pick up the log because you can read who has been there online as they log their visits. You may have to go back and replace the log or maintain the cache, but you could get someone else to do it for you. I look for caches once in awhile and it can be very fun.

The geocache isn't always an ammo can buried in the dirt. Kevan has a few unique caches that are out in the open and visible but you would never guess it was actually a geocache. Geocaching doesn't take you to the exact spot but involves following some clues sometimes.

I have only done one or two geocaches but can see how it can be fun. I've done some benchmark locating.
Since we can get to some remote places you can see some rare geocaches and benchmarks that have never been documented.

I saw a video once where they said "Geocaching is using billion dollar military satellites to find Tupperware hidden in the woods". Fun stuff if you ask me.
