I'm kinda new to this. :who knows: I'm really familiar with jeeps and see that most of those techniques cross over into the atv'ing only on a smaller scale. When I go off road with my jeep, I drop the tire pressure from 25-30 to anywhere between 5-10 lbs depending on what I'm doing. Is this the same with a quad? The dealer said the tires are set at 8 lbs. Is this good/bad? Do we vary the pressure depending on the terrain (sand vs. rocks)?

BTW, I haven't seen much posted on the Arctic Cats. Is everyone staying away from them? I hope not because my wife said this is my first and last atv.

Thanks for your help. I hope to be a more frequent poster now that I finally have a quad.

Todd

Todd,
If your going to be an intrepid explorer, at least pretend your wife doesn't tell you what to do. :)
Arctic Cat is a good solid brand. If it rolls, you like it, and it takes you where you want to go its all good !

Todd,

The best thing to do is play around with the psi until
you find your happy spot :mytwocents:

I'm running BigHorns 26X9X12 (front) 26X12X12 (rear)
I always carry a portable compressor to adjust to the
conditions and riding style, For my desert and mountain
riding I'm running 6.5psi (front) and 7psi (rear)

My last set of horns had 5284 miles on them and I could have
got another 800-1000 on the front,This also includes alot
of road riding.

I have 5 buddies that are running Arctic Cats,Models from '04 to '07
and the only thing I'm aware of are the headlights keep falling out :who knows:

I appreciate the feed back.

I'll play with the pressures and figure out what works well. I have the oem tires on it but I'm thinking they should be upgraded to something better. I like the steel wheels and will stick with them.
